Hi,
For any who are still interested, I'm going to propose we meet this coming Saturday at 11 am for a first run at the Grosvenor-Strathmroe metro (free parking if you need to drive).
The G-S metro is close to 2 different routes (one in a nearby neighborhood, and one which heads to the Rock Creek Park path).
The weather looks good (perfect running weather, clear & 55 F), and I figure we can meet up here on the weekend, when it's easier to meet, and then discuss where to meet in the future (if people want to).
I'll be there regardless of whether I hear back or not. I'll be near one of the benches next to the little bridge that leads to the faregates. Besides from my photo, you can recognize me by my bright red synthetic shirt and dark blue long sythetic pants - I doubt there will be many others fitting that description. I'll wait until 6 - 7 minutes past 11 am and then I'll head out. I hope someone can make it! I'm thinking about 3-4 mile run.
cheers!
Bill

First Posting!
Hi!
Due to my interest and the interest of others on Meetup.com, I've decided to start this blog to help aide those of us interested in having a running group in the North Bethesda / Grosvenor area of DC metro.
I'm thinking that using a blog to plan runs should work fine -plus it's free (as opposed to forming a meetup.com group). If this group takes off and we think that a meetup.com group would be better then at that time (once it's somewhat established), then I'll start the meetup.com group, cool?
Anyway, the first order of business is to find a time and place/route to run. Normally, this would be easy, but given that it is getting darker earlier, if we want to run weekday evenings, then we need to either find a lit track, or run on some neighborhood streets with streetlights. If we want to run on the weekends (maybe the best option for now) then we can just meet maybe late morning or whatever when it is daylight and run where ever we want (neighborhoods, nearby Rock Creek Park, the Trolley Trail, the Capital Crescent Trail, etc).
Once Spring rolls around (assuming there is still interest & people) then we can regularly go on trail runs and what-not.
So, I'm going to go over, back to the Rockville runners meetup, and post the link to this blog.
Yay! I'm excited - running groups are great, it's be nice having one with new people and near where I live!
ok,
ciao,
Bill
